What was the hardest adjustment when you first started your trip to Antarctica?

Lesley Urasky

I think the hardest adjustment was the 24-hours of sunlight. I've found myself staying up later and later because my body clock is normally cued by the change in daylight. I often find myself thinking, well, it's about time to think about getting ready for bed, only to find that it's 2 a.m.! People have said that sleeping in the yellow canvas Scott tents is like sleeping inside a light bulb because it's so bright. To help me sleep more soundly, I brought along an eye mask that I wear at night.
