What type of data has been gathered from the bore holes you mentioned?

Tom Lane

The boreholes have been used primarily to monitor long term changes in permafrost temperature. I believe they are checked annually by means of a tape with thermocouples attached at various intervals. This tape is lowered into the borehole and the temperatures at different levels are recorded. The borehole located at the Thaw Gradient Site here in Healy has had a thermokarst develop in the area in which it was drilled.
