Biology of Antarctic Fishes

Dear Ms. Dell,

I was wondering, are you able to eat ice fish? If so, is it common to? I hope I hear from you soon.

Hi Sydney,You can eat them. I hear they can be pretty tasty. There is a problem with over fishing - there are commercial fisherman who fish for them. We fish for them also for our research obviously, but we don't eat them. I'll let you know how they taste if I happen to try one. Check out the website www.lastocean.com. This talks about the Ross Sea and in there the icefishes are discussed.
