What kind of food did you eat while you were in Antarctica? How will the WISSARD be controlled? Which is easier to understand how to work a VHF radio, HF radio, or an Iridium Satellite Telephone? Thanks!

Food - a favorite subject! Our food was really good, considering the kitchen had to make 3+ meals a day for almost 1000 people. We had great variety including lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. The cooks seemed to like asian cooking which was fine with me. Some of my favorites were curries and stir-frys. These are some of the same things I make at home.
We also had really good fresh bread and deserts. Everyday the bakers made a different type of bread fresh. You just cut off what you wanted. And probably the reason I put on a few pounds was because of the deserts. Wednesday was normally cookie day - 5 or 6 different types of really good cookies!!!!! They also made cakes, pies, cobblers, and lots of other goodies. The only thing I had that was not really my favorite was some beef one night that just needed to be cooked more - it was too rare for me.
All the communications were pretty easy to use. VHF radio is definitely the simplest. HF isn't bad, but rigging the antenna can be a pain, especially in the wind. The satellite phone is a really great piece of technology, but a little less reliable than the radios because the satellites move and the signal can drop.
WISSARD had many different parts and each one is controlled differently. Take a look at the entries on the tools and drilling and that will give you some details on those items. It's a pretty complex process overall.
