You can't tell the players without a program! With all the pictures I have been sending along, I thought it might be helpful to you readers out there if I gave you a general idea who all these people are. So here goes…

    Claude Larson
First, there is me, the one who is writing this online journal. I am a teacher from New Jersey who has been sent here with PolarTREC to learn about the science here on Kamchatka and then tell you about it.

    Greg Korosec
This is Greg Korosec. He is the guy who is in charge of the work we are doing here at camp. He has often been second in command, but this is the first expedition where he is the primary go to guy. He has a lot to do and spends a lot of time planning the groups and the work that they will do. He is working on his doctoral degree in Archeology at the University of Buffalo.

    Rebecca Miller
Rebecca Miller is a post graduate student also from University of Buffalo. She is here to do the work of collecting artifacts and preparing them for processing.

    Jodi Bourgeois
Jodi Bourgeois is a professor of Geology at the University of Washington, Seattle. She has been coming to Kamchatka for 12 years and her travels through the wilderness have made her a legend among the Russians here.

    Sean-Paul Le Selle
Sean-Paul Le Selle is a student from the University of Washington in Seattle. He has just finished his undergraduate studies and is now a graduate student of geology. He is here with his professor, Jodi, getting his first taste of Kamchatka.

    Irina
Irina is a professor at the University in Petropovlovsk-Kamchatsky. She is basically the person who organizes all of the logistics for us here in the field. She has brought 5 students here to work and support the work. For many of them it is their first field experience.

    Claude and Sasha
This is me and Sasha standing near one of our many transports. He is a University professor in Petropovlovsk-Kamchatsky along with Irina. He is here to help with the excavations and also to help translate some of what we need done to the students.

    Ola and Alyesa
From left to right, this is Ola and Alyesa. They are student just starting at the university and they are here to help cook at field camp. They also come out with us to work the surveys and excavations. It is their first field experience.

    Lyosha, Artium and Stas
From left to right, this is Lyosha, Artium and Stas. They are first and second year university students who are here to help work the excavations and keep up field camp. They do everything from carry our drinking water from the stream to cut the firewood to help Irina get anything that needs doing done.

So that's the crew here at Stolbevaya. There are several others who are working on this expedition but in a different location. They are the Paleo-Ecology and I will introduce them to you when we meet up in Kultuk in a week to ten days.
