    Coming Full Circle

Things are coming full-circle for Team Spider at about the half-way point of my time here. Yesterday we pulled the nutrient probes that we put out on June 8 and put down new ones. Kiki and I also reset the 100 pitfall trap grid here at Toolik to again check for spider density (refer to June 13 Journal). Today we picked up the pitfall traps from that grid and placed the spiders in vials of ethanol. We also measured the soil moisture and temperature. The weather has improved to a balmy 65 degrees and the sun even peaked out periodically. We're hoping for nice weather tomorrow as we work and celebrate Independence Day!
