Phenology is the study of cyclic and seasonal natural phenomena. It is basically the science of when. When do polar bears hibernate? When is the caribou rut? When do plants bloom?

TundraA treeless area between the icecap and the tree line of arctic regions, having a permanently frozen subsoil and supporting low-growing vegetation such as lichens, mosses, and stunted shrubs. Vegetation - Who is there and what are they doing?

Bob Hollister's team from Grand Valley State University is studying the tundra vegetation and how climate change can affect it. They record the timing of the vegetation turning green and blooming every summer after the snow melts.

Watch the video below to see how they build OTCs, or Open Top Chambers. These act like green houses and simulate an average of a 2-3 degree increase in temperature.
