Two legs of travel done and two more to go. Last night I took the red eye from Fort Lauderdale to Stockholm, Sweden and now I am in Copenhagen, Denmark. I had a long layover in Sweden and it didn't help that the plane ended up being two hours late. But when life gives you a long layover that means it's time to explore the airport. I walked all over, as soon as I was given the chance to move around and I took it. All I have to say is thank goodness for Ikea and their restaurant. Ikea prepared me for the wonder that is Swedish food. I had lingonberry juice, and Anna's Ginger thins, and the coffee I figured out on my own.
On my tour I came across the largest Duty Free store I have ever seen. It was huge and they had everything! Candy, food, soda, home decor, Sweden centered merchandise of every variety, and moose salami. I was hoping to try the moose salami but they were not giving out samples. I will have to wait a little longer to go on my culinary adventure. I did watch Bizarre Foods before I came. There was no Greenland edition but there was an episode about Iceland. I'll take what I can get.
As I was walking around, I got to see a picture of one of my childhood heroes Pippi Longstocking. I grew up watching her movies and reading the books. I was so happy to see her in Sweden. Pippi taught me how to eat pancakes with my hands which I'm sure gave my mom hours of enjoyment too. I'm sorry I didn't get a longer time in Sweden but I'll have to come back and actually leave the airport.
I don't mind the traveling. It allows me to catch up on movies and to meet new and interesting people. I talk to everyone, so I am sorry if you ever are forced to sit next to me on a plane. I like hearing why other people are traveling and I had to brag about my own adventures.
Tomorrow I'll wake up early and start the second day of traveling. I can't wait to get to Thule tomorrow!
