The day was relatively quiet with the exception of another polar bear being sighted. This bear stayed around longer and therefore provided lots of photo opportunities. BIG thanks to JR and Isaac for once again keeping up safe and getting some good polar bear pictures.

Tonight’s journal was supposed to focus on a bunch of the scientists, specifically Barrow memories, Barrow favorites, and first things when you get home. Unfortunately, I washed my spiffy news reporter notebook, the only thing left was the metal, curly spine. Not much help with this journal, next topic, …, how about Last Day Shots.

First shot, has to be of the polar bear coming up out of the water.

    Bear Sauntering Up on Land
The polar bear is just minding it's own business, heading up on the land.

One of the things we did today was close down the driftwood feature. There may be more to do next year, as of right now, the hope is that most of it is still there in the spring.

    DriftWood Feature Closed
The drfitwood feature has seen quite a bit of activity these last 5.5 weeks. Now, it too, will settle in for a long winter's nap.

A polar bear was having a leisurely seal meal before a bunch of humans noticed it.

    Polar Bear Lunch
The polar bear lunch is a seal, this is all that was left after the first seating. A nap and the bear was back at it.

We also closed up the fox den feature. The feature had been partially excavated, turning up some human remains, animal bones, wood pieces, and a few other miscellaneous items. We decided to see if the next group to examine the area was any good at their work.

    Test Coin!!
We put this coin in the fox den feature to see if the excavators next year find it. It should be pretty easy, and hopefully comical.

    Quarter in a Hole
Here's the burial place for the quarter. I wonder how long it will stay in place?

Did I mention that we saw a polar bear today? Check out the bear napping.

    Let Sleeping Bear's Nap
Shhh, the polar bear is napping after eating most of a seal.

What kind of mood do you think bear’s are in when they wake up? To tell the truth, I did not hang around long enough to find out.

    Me and a Polar Bear
This is one of those shots that could have easily ended up in one of the America's Most Stupid Ideas shows. I had my back to the bear for all of about 30 seconds and I did not like that idea at all. You can see that someone is no longer napping.

I am glad the last field day is done, tomorrow is packing and writing. I’ll try to summarize and reflect, as well as share some new photo highlights. Thanks for following along, it’s been quite a journey.

    What Are You Looking At?
I can only imagine what is going through the bears mind as he is watching up. In my mind, I was thinking it was time to leave.
