Today we present the five students and their teacher from Roskilde Katedralskole, Denmark. (The bio and photo of Daniel Britze will be added soon.)

    Manja Lund
Manja Lund is a geoscience student from Roskilde.

Hi everybody! My name is Manja Nørrekær Lund, I am eighteen years old and for nearly two years I have attended Roskilde Katedralskole in Denmark. At Roskilde Katedralskole I study geoscience. I like being creative, and to some extent geoscience gives me the opportunity to be creative, as an example, we built our own hot air balloon last week.

I live in small town outside Roskilde with my parents and my two younger siblings at the age 11 and 15.

I like activities such as badminton, biking in the forest with my boyfriend, especially if there is ice cream afterwards. I’m a really social person, and love being with my friends whenever I’ve got time for it. Being creative helps me relax, and therefore I am fond of having small creative projects like painting a picture, a guitar and earlier I have been very happy for sewing my own clothes.

I look very much forward to seeing you all, and have a wonderful time together

    Marie Due-Andersen

My name is Marie Due-Andersen and I am 18 years old. I live in a small village called Jystrup in Denmark, and this where I have been living my whole life. I live on a big farm with my parents, where we grow ecological vegetables and have different kinds of animals. This is where I spend most of my time, by helping my parents with the farming. I got two big brothers, who also come and help with the farm occasionally.

When I am not helping here at the farm, I go to school, Roskilde Katedralskole. Here I study geoscience, math and chemistry. These are very good classes that help me understand the world better and how the Earth is working.

I am looking forward to this summer camp, because I once before have been in Greenland, and it will be great to be back and experience the wonderful nature. I was up there in March 2009 with my class, and it will be great to see the difference between March and July there.

    Mikkel Skaarup

My name is Mikkel Skaarup, and I’m 19 years old. I’m from Denmark, and live near Roskilde, though I was born in Copenhagen.

I am studying Geo-Science at Roskilde Katedralskole. Besides my parents, I have a younger brother, he’s 15. In my spare time, I enjoy playing guitar. I generally love music, especially some of the old stuff. And when I’m not playing guitar, I enjoy the company of my friends.

I think of myself as pretty creative, and like painting, drawing and even building stuff. All of these things really help me relax when times are busy. I also enjoy traveling, seeing and experiencing the world.

I’m looking really forward to meeting you all, and have a great time in Greenland. I’m sure that we are going to get some great experiences together. See you in Greenland!

    Valdemar Eriksen

My name is Valdemar Eriksen, and I’m seventeen years old. I live in Roskilde not so far away from Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. I have three siblings, two big brothers and a little sister, and my parents live together. Almost a year ago I became uncle to my oldest brother's child.

I study geo-science along with math and chemistry at Roskilde katedralskole. When I start in school again after my holiday it will be my 3rd and last year on that school. I’m looking forward to become a student, but I will also be sad to say goodbye to all the friends that I have made.

When I not go to school I like to spend my time on rowing, biking, running, watching movies and series, and play some computer. Right now I’m up for my own kayak, and after that I think I will buy me a new mountain bike.

I really look forward to meet you guys, and I know we will have some great weeks together.

    Bo Toftmann Christensen
Bo Toftmann Christensen is a teacher at Roskilde.

I am one of the two teachers in the geoscience class at Roskilde Katedralskole. I am educated in physics and math from the University of Southern Denmark, and I made my master and Ph.D. at Risø National Laboratory, where I was working with laser ablation.

I have been teaching math and physics in the Danish high school since 2005 with the last 7 years at Rokilde Katedralskole. I love my subjects and the students here, so it is a pleasure for me being a teacher. It is a new thing for me to be part of the teacher team in geoscience, and I find it very interesting to work with physics in relation to the earth.

I like being in the nature, and one of my best holidays have been in a canoe in Sweden together with my girlfriend Jane, who is now my wife and mother to our children Else and Aksel at 7 and 9 years. I am 42 years old, and enjoy running with a group of people in the neighborhood. I also like using my hands, for instance I have built a new house for the 5 chickens that we have running in our garden.

I am looking forward to a great experience together with you in Greenland.
