When we go out to the research site BASC provides us with a bear guard. This makes us feel very safe, but when we start collecting data around the clock, there will be times during the night that they are not there, so many of us went through basic gun safety class this morning. What was emphasized was the guns will be around and if it became necessary to use one, we should know how to check to see if the gun is loaded and how to load it.
