    Hikers Enjoying a Beautiful Day

It was a beautiful day and a lot of people were out hiking, skiing, watching the Oden or just lying out on the rocks catching some rays. It was after all in the mid 30s today. There was also a marathon here today, most of it was run out on the sea ice, so I didn't actually see any of it.

Looking For Whales in the Oden's Wake

I finally got a picture (see the WATIZIT pic) of one of the whales that I have been seeing the past couple of days. The whales, seals and penguins have followed the Oden’s channel into McMurdo. I think I have lied to you about what kind of whales I was seeing.

George and I are scheduled to fly on an LC130 to West Antarctica to WAIS field camp tomorrow. We will be camping at this location 79.468 S 112.087 W. We set up both of our tents to make sure everything was there and to practice setting it up.

From the field camp a Twin OtterA highly maneuverable utility aircraft developed by de Havilland Canada. It can be flown slowly and in tight circles, and is designed for 20 passengers, short takeoffs and landings, and often used for cargo, passengers, and as a science platform. will fly us to several weather stations that need some work. This evening we had Bag Drag, which means we carry anything that we plan to take with us up to a specific building, which of course is up a hill, where we and all our gear are weighed.
