Polar Outreach- Susan B. Anthony Classroom Visit
I went and visited Susan B. Anthony Elementary school to speak as a Polar Scientist.
I spoke to Ms. Shamblin's Pre-K class and Ms. Walasek's third grade class. Students were taught about Arctic science and polar adaptations like blubber and each of the students were able to try on the PolarTREC Extreme Cold Weather Gear. Each of them tried on the gloves, hats, boots and jacket.
Students in Ms. Walasek's class also learned about some of the Arctic TundraA treeless area between the icecap and the tree line of arctic regions, having a permanently frozen subsoil and supporting low-growing vegetation such as lichens, mosses, and stunted shrubs. fossils and permafrost.
