What kind of food do you eat? Do you eat whale blubber or penguins?

Hi UNIS M2-02, We eat just like you at home normal food; meats, vegetarian, salads and fruit, cake bread, breakfast with eggs or oat meal. The chefs here are just amazing.  It is easier to get fresh food since we have flights coming in form New Zealand. In the winter time, the winter-over peolple will not have any fresh food coming in. We do not eat any whale blubber or penguins here. Since the Antarctic treaty, all animals are protected. We have 24 hours of sun light and I have darkened the room to get some sleep.  I hope you had d a good break.Cheers, Elke

Hi,I stayed in Antarctica at the South Pole in the new station. I even had my own room.
Right now, in October of 2008, it is spring time in Antarctica.
The temperature on October 7th, 2008, is -70 F (-57 C)
The Windchill is -103 F (-75).
 
When I was there in January, 2008, the temperature was about -40F.

Well, you see in Antarctica the temperature ranges from 10 degrees Celsius to 49 degrees Celsius. Its not cold at all! In fact im boiling! I eat penguins all the time and i eat leopard seals too. There are no whales in Antarctica, only polar bears. They are so cute.Some one asked how does it feel like living in Antarctica. Its great, but i will complain about the weather. it is far too Hot! Antarctica is the best. Right now I am cooking bacon and eggs on the open bonfire outside. I live in Antarctica all year round. and gets really hot in winter! The ice all melts and everything! Its summer now and there is no daylight at all. BYE>
