Hi again, Michael.So far, I have learned that I can make an igloo and sleep in it! It was just as warm as my "Arctic Oven" tent. In terms of cool discoveries, we won't know for a couple of months. We are studying tiny particles that are floating in the air and landing on the surface of the Greenland Ice Sheet. We have been collecting samples of these particles all this time (and making an igloo in our spare time). We may have collected some of the ash from eruption of the Iceland volcano but we won't know until we take back our samples to Georgia Tech and analyze them. This ash was very high in the air and it may have just floated past Greenland.
Ultimately, we hope to learn more about how these tiny aerosol particles affect the climate in Greenland. Some of these particles will reflect sunlight back (keeping the temperature cooler) and some of these particles can absorb some of sun's energy (making the temperature warmer). We are trying to figure out exactly what is happening here in Greenland.
