Dear mr. kelley and the team,

I was just wondering what the ultimate goal of your research was? did you have any questions? did you answer them? how did you answer them?

Hi Frank,
Loved the blue ice and blown ice picture, great perspective. Will Barrow have sea ice all summer, is this a regular occurance?
Thanks!
Lemmings vs Siksiks

Hi Frank,

I really enjoyed reading your lemmings-eye view journals. Their burrows look a lot like the siksik jburrows I saw at Toolik Lake. We saw no lemmings, although I understand there are lemmings around there. What I'm wondering is if you see siksiks?

Keep up the good journaling!

Cathy

Nuvuk's boats

Hello team!

I enjoyed reading the journals. In your journal, you mentioned that Nuvuk people use a boat as a method of transportation. As Frank Kelly mentioned Nuvuk's boats, covered with seal skin, are essential tool for fishing and hunting sea animals. I was wondering what is the main part of these boats. You said that trees don’t grow there and that finding pieces of wood during your excavations was significant discovery. If the boats are not made from wood, then what are they made from?

Questions from Maine

Hi Frank -

We're here at the Lary's house. Had to go around a flooded section of road to get here! Good thing we still have a Maine Gazetteer in the car.

Robin wants to know how you've done working with high school students rather than 5th and 6th graders. Have the Inuit always buried their dead? Were thereother earlier traditions. Burial doesn't seem to make sense given the climate and geography.

Duncan wants to know what is the favorite thing you've found.

Bridget wants to know how its going and what was it like to hold a snowy owl baby?

Miss you - we'll email once everyone is here.

Julie

questions for Mr. Kelley

Mr. Kelley,

I like your pictures. After looking at your photos with my mom, I had some questions:

How did the whale bones get on the beach?

Which kind of whale bones are they?

How many planes did you take to get there?

How long does it stay all daylight for?

What kinds of trees are up there?

I think that is all for now. I hope to see you tonight on the computer.

Alex Hutchins

Weather conditions and bones

Hello Mr. Kelly and Team!

I wanted to ask you, when excavating the remains, have you noticed any significant differences in the end result of decomposition with the bodies? I was wondering if the extreme weather caused any notable difference in the condition of the bones as opposed to old remains in warmer or even very hot climates?

RE: remains

Hi there!

I found it very interesting that you and your team have decided to explore that are before it gets taken over by the ocen. I was just wondering, on the overview page, it states that there are very shallow graves. I am just wondering, so far, from the remains that you have found, what have they been? How old have they dated back to be? Does it look like any animals have roamed in that area and fed on the remains? Thank you and have a great safe trip.

Elizabeth Petito

Hi Frank,

I have some bones for you to identify for me.
I think I need to respond to this entry so I can get into the gallery???

I found the bones in Barrow on the beach.

What do you think?

Thanks,
