Occupation: Teacher
Organization: St. Mark Catholic School

Elizabeth Eubanks is a New Orleans native who has spent much of her youth crabbing, fishing, exploring the bayous, and camping out west with her family. Being exposed to a broad spectrum of nature sparked her drive to pursue a zoology degree at Auburn University and a Master’s in Education from Palm Beach Atlantic University. Mrs. Eubanks has taught integrated middle school science for 11 years and presently teaches at St. Mark Catholic School in Boynton Beach, Florida. Mrs. Eubanks teaches in order to share her passion for science with kids. Her lessons are filled with hands on activities in a stimulating environment in which students utilize real science to question, reason, think outside of the box, and to feel empowered by knowledge. Her motto is “We Are All Connected-We Are All Affected”. Mrs. Eubanks’ hobbies include photography, yoga, hiking, birding, camping, music festivals, travel, painting, knitting, and learning.

HI Ryan, I am not sure that

HI Ryan,
I am not sure that you actually read the journal as the crickets were in Costa Rica and not part of the Alaska trip. But to answer your question- I am not sure. I did not actually hear this beautiful creature make any noise at all.

Great great question Chris.

Great great question Chris. While the food can be overwhelmingly expensive in certain rural parts of Alaska, it is not as expensive in Anchorage, which is mostly like any big city. Anna's meal cost about $8-$10. Not to bad:)
Thank you,
Mrs. Eubanks

HI Chris, I am answering for

HI Chris,
I am answering for Garrett. The prices are so so so high in the bush because it is "out in the bush" - that means far away. It is super hard to get food to some of these places. For instance in Barrow, most food is flown in or comes in via boat/ship. Hope that makes sense.

Hi Alexandra, Yes, I do think

Hi Alexandra,
Yes, I do think that this is the case for sure. But I also know from experience in Barrow, when the sun is out for 24 hours, it is still not all that hot out. There were times when it snowed or was super cold. So while yes, I think the sun not coming out as much and as high...{read more}

HI, I am not sure who you

HI,
I am not sure who you are, but ...
The sun was up from about 9:30am until about 4:30 pm. The days were very short.
Thank you for your question.

HI Scarlett, Thank you so

HI Scarlett,
Thank you so much for your question. It is a good one, but based on what we were writing in our journals we did not really mention anything to do with invasive species. Likewise we did not hear any talks about them- although there could have been talks that we missed that...{read more}

Hello Alessandro, Great

Hello Alessandro,
Great questions! This conference was a little smaller than the other conferences that I attended and there were less daily choices of speakers for students to listen to. So in the case of the speakers- no, I chose the speakers based on Alaska regions and topics and made...{read more}

Meghan, We saw plenty of snow

Meghan,
We saw plenty of snow on the ground. There was enough snow for kids to have snowball fights and to make snow angels. It only snowed a few times- but was fun to see and play in!
Thank you for you question,
Mrs.Eubanks
