Loved the picture of you on the ATV! I didn't realize Point Barrow was disappearing so rapidly due to rising sea levels. I also thought the whale graveyard was really cool; I agree with the dinosaur bone comparison! When you described the soil samples and the bread knife, I thought of our samples at Toolik, as well, it took me awhile getting used to sorting through a pile of mostly roots and calling it soil! Keep up the fun journals! It looks like it's pretty cold weather for sticking your hands into the cold soil!

Susan,The weather is crazy out here - it's foggy and cold one minute and then another minute it's hot, sweaty, and there are a ton of mosquitoes around. I start the day with 5 layers and I finish the day with 2 layers.
So we'll be taking soil samples once a week. With all this practice, I'll be a pro for my cake cutting pictures for my wedding!! Yay!
