Dear Mr. Taterka,

First of all, I'm really excited to take your class this year! I can't wait to hear more about your expedition - in fact, I'm on a car ride back from college tours in North Carolina right now and rather than watching GoodFellas for the fiftieth time I chose to read a few of your journal entries again! Some of them really intrigued me - it's really great to see that you had the ability to go and research something you're passionate about.

Anyways, after reading through the other threads here, I noticed that, unless I missed it, nobody mentioned anything about the Parasitoid Wasp! For some reason I just think it's incredible that there's an animal species that implants its eggs into a host, hatch in the host, and then eat its way out of the host - I thought that was just something that happens in "Alien!"

Are there other animal species' that behave the same way? Are they located in any other climates/parts of the world? I know you said we would learn about this in class but I'm just amazed by this! But who knows....

.... maybe I'm just exhausted from touring schools.

Thanks a lot and see you soon.
