Today we picked up four people from an American field camp, called Copacabana, on King George Island. The camp belongs to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and is used by penguin biologists as a study site. The biologists have been stationed there since mid-October and are closing down for the winter. I’m looking forward to hearing more about their research. Today involved hauling out more gear- I’m certainly getting in shape on this journey.

The Copa biologists came on board after we finished helping them break down their camp. What an incredible spot; I'm amazed that the four of them have been there for the past four months. They've become friends with Polish scientists at the nearby Arctowski station. We'll visit Arctowski tomorrow and I'm excited about that.
