And we’re off!

After fueling yesterday (we filled up to about 400,000 gallons of gas!) we set sail about 9pm, into an oncoming rainstorm.

It was a beautiful sight and a lot of us gathered out on deck to take pictures. We could see the wall of water coming straight at us, lightning and a rainbow over the Tasmin Bridge, and sail boats racing about in the winds.

Ahead of the NBP, a storm and rainbow above the Tasmin Bridge.

The crew secured everything to the ship. And I secured my cabin… Basically I put away my stuff. I didn’t really bring anything that needs to be strapped down.

This first part of the storm isn’t bad. But, the major part of the storm will hit us when we’re out at sea, probably tomorrow. The Captain plans to navigate around the brunt of the storm, but it will still be rough. The storm is nothing the ship can’t easily handle, but we’ll see about the people on the ship.

We’re gonna start off right away with all the action! I’m very excited to be underway. I’ll try to keep up with posting the best I can, however, I’m sure you’ll understand if you don’t hear from me for a day or two.
